Are you a Team Beachbody Coach looking for a way to grow your business? The web sites provided by Beachbody are very good, but how do you stand out from the crowd? Well, one way is to have your own web site. Here are some examples of Team Beachbody Coach web sites:

The Fit Club Network
NC Fit Club
Where’s My Six Pack
Jason Heilpern Fitness

There’s many more out there, but the ones I listed above should give you some good  ideas.

I’m a new Coach as well as a freelance IT consultant. Setting up your own web site can be a pretty taunting task … from picking a domain name to adding that cool Facebook widget … but I can help you with all this stuff.

Interested? Read on!

What I can set up for you is a self-hosted WordPress blog (what’s a WordPress blog?), with your own domain name … like insert-your-name-here.com.

What’s great about WordPress is that it’s not just a “blog”. It’s a full CMS (Content Management System). So if you don’t want to “blog” all the time and just want static content, WordPress gives you that option (and many more!).

But first … just to be absolutely transparent … I need to talk about the fine print. The usual price of $49 will be waived only if you do not yet have a web site host and are a Team Beachbody Coach. This allows me to make some affiliate (i.e. commission) money by referring you to the web host (like GoDaddy). You’ll give the web host some of your money and they pay me for sending you there. That’s the way I can offer this service for free. Cool, huh? (And to be honest, I’m hoping you’ll hire me for some of my other services as well!)

Here’s what I’ll do:

  • Install and configure WordPress on your web host. The web host, like GoDaddy, is where your blog will “live”. These web hosts have humongous data centers with racks of servers and a BIG connection to the Internet. If you’re interested for more information than you could possible need, go here.
  • Upload a theme of your choice and make it active. There are tons of themes available. Some free, some not. Here’s a good directory of WordPress themes.
  • Install additional plugins that will add functionality. Plugins that I will install and configure:
  • Show you how to login to the administrative area where you can write posts, add pages, moderate comments, etc, etc. This “Dashboard” is your blog control panel.

Here’s What I Won’t Do (at least not for this price … there’s the transparency theme again):

  • Moving (migrating) an existing blog. I can do this service for you if you want. Email or call me and we can talk about it.
  • Technical Support. At least not in the traditional sense … as in a Help Desk or something. I’m happy to answer basic questions. But if your web site is suddenly “broken”, I’m not the one to call. The web host will be happy to help you there. It’s included with the hosting package. I’ll be offering Technical Coaching very soon, where I can get more in depth with you, like adding widgets, plugins, etc. Of course, you can hire me to do the whole thing for you!

Here’s Some More Detail:

  • I’ll walk you through the process of buying the hosting and domain name over the phone and/or remotely connecting to your computer using a service like GoToAssist. Or, if you prefer, I’ll provide you with an easy step by step guide that will walk you through the whole thing. GoDaddy is always changing their sign up pages … that’s why I prefer to walk you through live.
  • You pick a theme that will determine how your blog will look (colors, fonts, borders, etc.) And don’t worry if you decide later that you don’t like it. Changing to another theme is simple and won’t change any of your content.
  • You email me the information as described in the step by step process mentioned above.
  • Once I receive the information, I will set up your blog and show you how to login and post stuff.

So … are you ready? Have some questions? Shot me an email or give me a call and we can get started.
